About

I'm a Product Owner with experience across technical delivery, agile transformation, platform development, and system optimisation, focused on improving how products, workflows, and systems operate end-to-end. Over this time I led custom software projects as a Technical Project Manager on top of a core platform, before stepping into a Solutions Manager role where I led an agile transformation that improved workflows, ownership, and how work moved across teams. This included introducing ways of working that empowered teams, strengthened stakeholder alignment, and created a culture of continuous improvement. Now working as a Product Owner, I focus on shaping product direction while identifying and reducing friction across customer journeys, internal workflows, and platform behaviour. More recently, I've supported a shift from Scrum to a flow- based approach to better reflect system constraints and improve visibility and throughput. I bring a strong balance of technical understanding and business context, and am most effective working at the intersection of product, operations, and technology, where problems are less defined and the impact comes from improving how things work, not just what gets built.

Testimonials

Chloe Condie

Solutions Director ANZ at Funraisin

“I’ve had the privilege of working closely alongside James and have had a front row seat to his transformative approach to the teams he works with. James takes a proactive approach to identifying blockers, both cultural and process based, and puts methods in place to address and improve outcomes. For the team we lead together, this looked like opening up communication channels to encourage transparency and collaboration towards shared outcomes. His leadership helped set the tone amongst the team and transform the day to day working environment. James invests in the improvement of systems and flows, to address inefficiencies at their source and remove bottlenecks, and empowers wider teams to self organise and support each other. This includes the wider publication of information, and leading training sessions to equip partnering teams with the expertise they need to take a new product feature and run with it. James is a wonderful person to work with and an asset to any team.”

Sam Stephens

Senior Technical Product Manager at Funraisin

“James is a fantastic Product Owner - I had the pleasure of leading the product team at Funraisin, with James being one of my team members. When James moved from owning custom software projects into his current role as a Product Owner working on the core platform, he picked it up and ran with it from day one. While at the time he was new to the PO title, his previous experience in running custom projects, using Agile, for building solutions on top of the core platform code, transferred well. He has an excellent technical understanding as well as business acumen, which mixes very well in Product. On top of this, James is genuinely a nice guy coupled with strong stakeholder management. It's been an absolute pleasure working with him!”

Anne-Laure Goudy

Digital Transformation Not For Profit at Children's Cancer Institute Australia

“I had the pleasure of working with James in his role as Project Manager across several major projects on the Funraisin platform: including complex peer-to-peer fundraising websites, appeals, and our Donate Your Age campaign, which was recognised with the FIA Award for Most Innovative Campaign in 2024. James is a fantastic partner to work with: sharp, responsive, and always solutions-focused. Even under pressure, he brought clarity, calm, and a real drive to deliver the best possible outcomes. He made the most of what was available and always went above and beyond to get things moving. My team and I thoroughly enjoy working with him.”

Lana Do Canto

Head of Community Fundraising at National Breast Cancer Foundation

“We've had the absolute pleasure of working with James at Funraisin across several of our major campaigns, and their support has been instrumental in our success. From the very beginning, James took the time to truly understand our objectives and the unique needs of our campaigns. Their proactive approach, deep platform knowledge, and responsiveness have consistently made a big difference in how efficiently and effectively we’ve been able to deliver. Whether it's navigating complex builds, helping us optimise for conversion, or turning around last-minute requests, James always brings a calm, can-do attitude and solutions-focused mindset. They’ve been a true extension of our team and a trusted partner in driving growth and innovation through our campaigns.”

Alex Fernandez

Fundraising, Marketing & Communications

“James helped me develop multiple different fundraising websites over a number of years. James always took the time to educate me about particular features of the platform, whilst also fixing any issues which couldn’t be solved over a call. James is friendly, very patient and easy to work with. James has strong knowledge about fundraising campaigns, and was very helpful during the production and management stages of every campaign. ”

Antony Pinto

Digital Specialist at Society of Saint Vincent de Paul

“I worked with James for over 2 years on several appeals campaigns and we made significant improvements on the overall digital user experience for Vinnies. James always had a solution to complex technical challenges with our custom made landing pages to suit a large, federated organization. I would always recommend him and believe he would be an asset to any team.”
